Story Of Change - Shabir

Shabir enrolled in the creche in 2024. His mother contacted the creche as she wanted a better future for her children and a secure place for her child to learn and grow while she worked. When Shabir first started attending the crèche, he did not want to stay and leave his mother. He showed no interest in learning activities, even when the teacher sang rhymes or told stories. The teachers advised his mother to stay in the centre for 30 minutes at first until he settled. With his mother’s presence, he gradually settled and mixed with the other children, and after a few days, he was happy to stay in the creche without his mother. The joyful learning environment and the use of different teaching materials also helped him develop curiosity and interest towards creche. Through play-based learning, Shabir has learned to recognise colours, fruits, animals, and birds. He can also identify his own name and is now trying to write the English alphabet.
