Aparna is a 5-year-old child with a visual impairment. She was enrolled in the crèche three years ago. She discovered peace through spending time with her mother at the crèche but she failed to adjust to her new surroundings.
The loud noises from everyday activities such as children reciting poems and playing made her extremely sensitive to noise. The teachers gave Aparna support and care which created feelings of safety and love within her. The crèche’s special educator provided essential training to staff members which helped them provide better support for her requirements.
Aparna joined classroom activities through the use of joyful and engaging learning materials. She developed increasing self-assurance until she fully participated in all daily activities. The person underwent a significant life change during the previous three years because she now participates in group prayers with happiness after facing difficulties with participation before. She has developed the ability to recognize letters and numbers through touch.
This year, Aparna was enrolled in a government school as part of an inclusive education program. The crèche teachers assisted her to get a Disability Card which now enables her to receive financial assistance from the government program.
